Default Just got back from E.Texas

hoghnt 012.jpgThis place was called Estrella ranch, it is a 12K acre cattle ranch in sugar hill, about 20 minutes from mt pleasant. this was my 1st trip to this ranch, but Ive been hunting on an adjacent ranch 4X previously with the same guide. Unfortunately I did not get a hog this trip, but we did have a great time as always, and we really got deep in the brush after these things, but we just couldnt get a clear shot. My buddy did manage to get a small 40lb hog w/ but missed a huge one the next day at 70yds w/ while stalking w/ our guide. would've been a chip shot for my rifle, but I opted to sit over a feeder, that morning instead. either way, we all had a great time, and got to shoot a few varmints, so Id call it a success. The house we stayed in was really nice too. If anyone is looking for a challenging and fun pig hunt, PM me and Ill give you Zach's # and email.

Huh, I'm from Mt. Pleasant, Pittsburg & I've never heard of this place... How long ago did it open, granted I've been gone for 10 years, but that's my old stomping grounds!

I miss Herschels... But, if you get the chance go out to Lake Bob Sandlin & eat catfish at Vaughns! Way better than David Beards catfish... Also, if you're not a local boy, try Pittsburg Hot Links!!! aghhh, I'm thinking about food!

My guide Zach also does really good euro mounts w/ beetles, these were the racoon and opossum from my trip earlier this month. If anyone is looking for someone to clean their skulls, or go on a good fair chase hog hunt in e.TX ,give Zach a call. http://www.brodax.com/index.php

Zach's website is http://brodax.com. His blog is just getting started, http://brodax.com/blog. He has some great pictures and hunting stories to tell. The Estrella Ranch is wonderful.
