Default what grain bullet to use?

i just bought a .30-30 and what grain bullet should i use when shooting pigs up to 150 yds? the pigs i haave been seeing are approx 130 pounders

i would suggest the hornady leverevolution for that rifle in 160 grn. Clover leafed three shots at 100 yds with my new Marlin 30-30.

I second that! I shoot the leverevolution but when I'm not I shoot the 170gr if within 100yd. The Hornady is an awesome round. Got a BDC reticle and it worked real well

ya either those 160grs from hornady which will turn it into a 300yd gun...

or those 170grs usually look like they fly flatter/retain more energy.

Sounds like these guys gave great advice. I was just gonna say to use the heaviest bullet you could. Some like to shoot them with small bullets in the head but it's always good to have a little extra weight just in case a bruiser hog comes out.

Go with the Hornady leverevolution. The cheaper rounds are about $16 and the leverevolution ammo is $21 at BPS, the cost difference is minimal and point blank range is 250 yards.

I use a 543 grain projectile... total arrow weight.
