Diesel in Corn???

I've read where people put diesel on their corn piles to attract hogs, and have seen where it has worked GREAT!

My thoughts are, how in the heck do the pigs eat diesel soaked corn, and not die? I wouldn't even think that the pigs would touch it, but apparently they love it.

Can you eat the meat of a pig that has been eating diesel soaked corn? Will it eventually kill the hog if they continue to eat that corn?

Strawberry koolAid will work good and no petroleum in feed.....I have used Sour mash for years without Diesel or any additives and works great.....

Amen to what Rebel said. In our area, we use nothing but plain OLD DEER CORNin our traps. In a more "urban" area, I can see the need for some "koolaid" for the scent. In my mind......petroleum should not be put on the ground.

Corn works wonderfully!!

Best Wishes to you!

Some guys mix some diesel in the corn to deter racoons, squirrels and other animals that might eat the bait. As to what effect it may have on the pig's digestive system; I don't know but assume it's notexactly healthy for them...but neither is a broadhead poking a hole in their engine room.

I had always heard that you used the diesel to soak an old rotted log or a spot on the ground. Not terribly envrironmentally friendly but the hogs will sniff it out and rub all over it. The diesel supposedly kills/keeps away the bugs.

Soak your corn in diesel for 24 hours, you do not have to use alot of deisel for this. Dig a hole about 2 feet deep and pour the corn mixture in it. Wait for the hogs to find it and they will destroy the ground around it trying to get the corn/diesel mixture.

Another trick is to drip oil ona tree near wallows, the hogs will rub the bark of the trees getting every drop.

Not sure what it does to a pig but if it killed them all then start dumping more diesel fellas!
