Default Fort Stewart

Taking a stab at hog hunting for the first time this weekend down at Fort Stewart. Has anyone hunted down that way and have any tips? I hear the base is over run with them. Thanks in advance!

I am stationed at Ft Stewart, and yes, it is over run with them. You just have to know which area is holding them right now. I am not sure how much the folks at the pass and permit office will be able to tell you, other than what areas of base are currently open for hunting. I doubt that they will know where the pigs are holding out at. One thing you might try is almost across the street from the pass and permit office is Range control.. actually, you will turn right outta the pass and permit office, go up maybe 1/8 mile, and Range Control ins on the left. 2 story white building there with some old light armored equipment out front. If you check with the guys in there, or in the little brown trailer back behind it, those guys SHOULD be able to tell you where they are seeing pigs at. Might help to offer up a case of beer, you know to grease the wheels there some too. Those guys are out on the ranges and training areas daily so they should have the best, latest information.

Good Luck, and let us know how it works out for you.

P.S. the guys at range control are for the most part pretty good guys. They might, depending on the day they are having tell you to go pound sand too. Just let them know somebody suggested you ask them for tips on where you might find some pigs. I am sure they will tell you since they can be destructive little bastards
