There are hogs on the WMA land at Tawakoni. I have killed one there so I'm sure. Go to the small area NE of the lake and hunt the bottom.

I spoke to the game warden out there today...he says they are all over due to the heavy hunting on the private lands all around the lake. Only bad thing is that it is archery only, only day hunting, and no guns allowed. Guess I better get really good with the bow this weekend..going out early Monday morning to try my luck...he says alot of deer moving into the area you spoke of as well. Anyone want to join me for my first hog hunt?

its archery only until Nov. 3rd. Then you can use bow, shotgun, or muzzleloader. At least I think so. I know it used to be that way Get the public lands book or check the regs online.

If you don't have any luck at Tawakoni you can always try Cooper WMA. It is north of Sulphur Springs about 20 minutes. I know there are hogs out there as well. You will need a Type II license which is $48.

Best of luck to ya.

I'd sure go with you, but I have a new work schedule and it's real busy. If we ever get something lined up again at Sycamore Creek Ranch we'll send you a pm. You could ride into Burleson and ride out there with Aussie and me.

Hogs are easy. Take your time and figure them out. They are easy to learn. Best teacher is experience. Good luck.

Well, I went with 2 co-workers on Monday down to Teague, Tx... Caney Creek Lodge. We got there about 6am...were in the stands by 6:20, feeders went off and hogs came in just before 7am. One of the other guys picked off a small boar about #150 right away. I missed a lil red about #125 or so, then nailed a#120 sow, then we started stalking. My other friend got a little sow about #100 or so, then we broke for lunch.. Came back out about 1:30pm and I got another sow about #100. About 4:30 we called it a day. We will be going back...probably in a few weeks..this is a great place to hunt for anyone...from trophy hogs to exotics and whitetail. Will have some photos soon.
