Default Possible Hunt

I'm possibly goin on a hog hunt in mid october for some Russian Boar, and the animals in the area run around 250 pounds or so. I'll be using my 30-06, the one I took my one previous hog with. That kill was a 30 yard lung/heart shot with 2 steps taken and then the 125lb ferral went down, using PMP 150 grain soft points.

With this hunt upcoming, I've got my rifle sighted in with Federal 150 grain Premium Sierra boat tail soft points and my gun really likes this load. But on such a large animal with possible shots out to 200 yards, will the bullet still punch through the shoulder and hit vitals? I know there are other, heavier loads, but I can't get to the range very often cuz it's so far away so resighting with a heavier load isn't really a favorable option.

So am I gonna be ok with the bullet, will the hog go down?

Thanks for the help

You shouldn't have any problems with that load.

Ive taken more than I can remember with that very load. Except they were pro hunters. Same as the boattail, just with a flat back.

That setup should be more than enough muscle than what you need for some hogs.
