Default best way to determine if hogs really are in the area?

My parents, grandmother, and a few of the extended family swears that there are hogs around here and on our land (Northeastern Mississippi) but I personally haven't seen one or anything that I would thing was a sign (such as a wallow) but then again I haven't really looked.

Is there a good way to bait them to a trail cam? Something better to do?

I really don't even know where to begin but if there are some here I might have to attempt a harvest.

Dawn your best camo, grab a weeks worth of rations, a flashlight, and a camera. Take a week off of work, find a group of bushes and sit in the middle of the biggest bush you can find for several days. Switch bushes periodically to be sure you have covered all of your property. Stay all week long, if you see any hogs, take their picture, if not, you dont have any hogs...

This is completely sarcastic of course.. Best I can say, is place a pile of corn or hog finisher out somewhere where you can easily check for fresh tracks. See what happens...

If you had hogs you would know.
They are destructive on agriculture and always root up stuff.
Hogs are a love / hate relationship
Love to shoot em and eat em
Hate them on my place

Dig a posthole about 3 feet deep. Fill with corn and several packets of strawberry jello mix.

rain will mix and cause the corn to ferment. (If no rain, dump a bucket of water in the hole periodically)

Like Dale said, look for rooting in soft ground. When you start out you may get rooting confused with areas that cattle have scraped out but when you find the real deal you won't be mistaken. Also look for over turned cow pats but be aware that birds like to have a scratch for worms under cow pats too.
Cheers, Nathan.

I would dump a bag of corn near the thickiest brush on my place infront of my trail cam.

Rubs are the best. When they move through here ( Halletsville, TX. ) they leave a big mess. Tear up the pastures, wallow in the wet low areas and leave rub marks (mud) on every tree in site.

I agree, hogs make a mess out of your property. If they are there you will know it.
