There are a few places where you have exotics running wild but they are few and far between. Remember these animals are a cash crop. The fences they stay behind are generally well maintained. If they do get loose they are fair game. A hunting license is required but no special permit or stamp. There is also an open season on exotics. Hunt them year round if you want. I have been hunting all over this state and so have many people I know. I have heard of one instance where an exotic was taken on low fenced property where the animal was not put there by the landowner.

My buddy shot a few Axis deer at his open acre land in west Texas. Axis Deer are the most numerus exotic game around the places I have hurd about. I have been told there are alot of Axis deer around Brady Texas.

to my knowledge no there arnt any just roaming like the hogs. You can however, if lose and free ranging, drop one anytime as long as you have the proper licences and your a member of what ever club you shoot it on (ie. dont trespass). We had some falla get loose after hurricane Katrina and people were chompin a tth ebit to get them, needless to say they didnt make it 2days in the "wild".

Martin,

I don't live in Texas but I hunt on a friends ranch down there. He has free range Axis, Sika, hogs and a Blackbuck from time to time. None of his neighbors are fenced in as of yet. So there is a nice Axis herd around. There are also plenty of whitetail. These are turning out to be a nice cash crop so I wouldn't doubt that somebody starts putting up fence sometime.
