Feral pigs generally breed year round; litters range from one to seven, averaging two per sow. An average of one to three suckling pigs usually accompanies brood sows. The heat period is only about 48 hours in duration and the average gestation period is 115 days.

They are like dogs, when a sow comes into cycle, they breed. It all depends on the sows. Sows can have two litters a year, so depending on when that particular sow came into "heat" and bread, will indicate when the next time will fall.

khuengo,

What Reb said is correct. However, if you want a show, watch two wild boar hogs fighting over a sow in heat. Buck deer don't compare to this wildlife show.

A good way to see this, and simple, if legal in your area. Soak some corn in water for a couple of weeks, setting it in the sun makes it sourer quicker. Pour out about a 5 gallon bucket of the corn each day for a few days, the hogs will find it fast because of the smell. Get in a stand off the ground and watch, if there's a sow in heat, the boars will follow her. You will most likely witness one of the most vicious shows' in nature.

Good Luck,
dog1
