Nice pig. I grew up in Waialua and used to hunt pigs near Kaena point all the time. Also had some family in Pahoa that I would hunt with on the big island. Good for the smoker. You guys use dogs?

Chee, I didn't know that there was anything TO HUNT in Hawaii.
What do they have besides hogs?

Congrats to your friend.

Each island has different game on it but for the most part:

Axis Deer
Black-tailed Deer
Mouflon Sheep
Feral Sheep
Mouflon-feral Hybreds
Feral Goats
Feral Pigs
Feral Cattle
Turkey
Ringneck Pheasant
Blue Pheasant
Kalij Pheasant
California Quail
***anese Quail
Gambels Quail
Bobwhite quail in some places.
Mourning dove
Laceneck dove
Zebra dove
Erkels Franklin
Black Franklin
Gray Franlkin

The Island of Ni'ihau has a bunch of african game on it. There's some other animals on various ranches in the state (I've shot bison). Pronghorn were released on Molokai in hopes that a herd would develope but until recently, the herd was kept low by poaching and might be gone now.

olickey,
We don't use dogs in this area. For some reasons, we have better sucess waiting for them at trail junctions. The dog hunters get, but never bigger than 70#.
There's a few areas that we almost always seepigs. We never leave the gut piles there and we try to keep hunting pressure lowso we don'tpush them into other places.

NB, is there a website that might have pistures and stuff like that?
I thought that a "blue pheasant" was kind of hard to believe, so I was hoping to see for myself.
Thanks for making that list for methough.
