Default Ohio Hog Hunting.

Hello All,
My brother and I are looking to try some hog hunting here in Ohio. Our problem is that neither one of us have ever hunted hog and either one of us have hunting land with hog on it.

My question is: Any good idea's or sites to get us ready for hog and does anyone know an public land that has hog in the area? Or an invite on to some private land would work also.

We are looking for someplace in central to southern Ohio.

I'm just looking for any info I can get.

Thanks in advance ya'all!

OK... You're just pretending to be a Rebel, right? Every real Rebel knows it's y'all...

Seriously, I'm not from Ohio, so I can't directly answer your question (hopefully others here will), but, it seems to me that a couple things you could do would be to try to track down someone from your area with the fish and game or forestry service and start asking questions there, or, maybe check in at local gun/sporting goodsstores, and shooting ranges where they might have bulletin boards with hunts posted,or try to google "public land hog hunting in Ohio". I know I used to see hog hunts advertised in Ohio the back of Outdoor Life, Sports Afield and similar magazines. Those would be private hunts (and maybe high-fenced), though, so probably not what you're looking for. Good Luck!!!

Have heard of some hogs causing problems in the barnsville, ohio area. I have some folks that live in that area checking it out,as to area & owners. hope to get in on some pigs.
Other than that ,the only other places are high fence areas(white oaks) around senicaville.OH. &I think another in southern ohio(maybe loan oak)not sure. ODNR .com can give ya more info. GB 50

Took my son and 2 of his friends to Daleray Preserve this past June on a hunt. They got a couple nice hogs and my sons was HUGE and MEAN...it was a blast. They also got a couple sheep and a goat. Nice Lodge, great folks and the hunt can be as hard as you want to make it. I am not sure how much he is doing with exotics right now though as he has a Wyoming camp as well as Africa hunts and Whitetail hunts also. SO...he may not be available right now. You can google hog hunting in Ohio or just Hunting Preserves and find lots of them. You can find them at www.dalerayhunting.com.
Good Luck,

Dave in WV
