Default pre season scouting on fl wma

does florida allow pre season scouting for hogs and deer on the three lakes main unit? or do you just show up and walk around with a gun? in three lakes where would be the best place to start hog hunting? also it looked like deer and hog general gun season starts at the same time If im walking around stalking hogs wont that piss off the deer hunters. I know id be pissed if i was on a stand and someone came walking by its also a good way for a accidental shooting.

If they have the chains up, don't cross them!

I used to go 3 days before the opening day and set-up my travel trailerin the camp ground and then do tracking and scouting. Without Firearms!!

You have to go under the FL Turn Pike Over Pass, there is where most of the hogs were at, but it got muddy after the rains.

Hey it happens!

You go under it and have to make the loop on Rd12 to leave.

The way I go is East on Hwy 60 to 441 which is YeeHaw Junction. Take a Left on 441 going North to Kenansville, which is about 10 miles. From the Store & Gas Pumps at Kenansville &Rd 523,it's exactly 11 miles to the Main Entrance which is called Williams Rd, it will be on your Left. About 1/2 mile on your right will be the Camp Ground. About 1/4 mile after you leave the Camp Ground will be the Check Station. Keep going North Weston Williams Rd to Rd11 and turn Right on Rd.1 to Rd.12. Its called Rd12 Loop. Theres were you go under the Over Pass and have to make the Loop to go under it again.

Most hog hunters refer to that area as: Loop 12.

This is at Three Lakes in 1997.1988 S-10 4.3 Blazer and I never got stuck. I still have the Blazer and it has been to most WMA's in FL.

For Hogs, early morning and late afternoon, say fromdawn to 10:amand 4:00 pm till dusk.Between these times I track for deer crossings. Most Deer hunters go to camp for lunch around 12:30 to 2:30 and keep the deer moving to your benefit. There will be alot of deer hunters who will stick it out on stand from dawn to dusk!

I'm gonna hunt there a few days this year. I never really hunted the other side of the turnpike hard enough. I hunted that smaller unit a lot because of the amount of rooting, but I never seen much more than that. Thats why I always say, "rootin tells you where they've been, not where they are" LOL!
