Default Iowa Hogs

In the last couple of years we have been hearing rumors of hogs in our area of southern Iowa. Now last weekend we sighted our firsthog on our property and found a few sets of tracks. The DNR has told us to shoot them if we want to. All they ask is that we notify them so they can get tissue and blood samples from them. My question is what is the best way to bait them. We would like to keep them moving into our area if possible, or at least keep them thined out. Any help would be appreciatted

Cool. Don't shoot them. Spread out a line of corn up here to central IA so we can get them going here.

put up an automatic feeder in a tree where you saw the hog and sign.put maybe 1/2 bag or so around the tree then , take a bag of corn and walk along and dribble a little corn in two or three dricetions (just a few grains at a time),maybe 1/4 mile.when they cross the corn, they will follow it to the feeder and corn you put around the tree.they will come back to the tree every day.Easy.

Another good method is to take a post hole digger and dig out a hole about 3 ft deep. Fill it with corn and pour the remaining bag around the hole.
Get 2 or 3 liter bottles of the cheapest cherry soda (the red stuff, not cola) and pour it into the hole. Once they get onto the scent of the soda, they will keep hitting the hole until the corn is gone.

As I recall these are Russian Boars. Please post a photo when you get one!
