A sow about 200lbs with a .410 slug to the brain. Next would be a 120 lb boar with an arrow. And several others in the 50-100 lb range with bullets from .22-.308, other arrows, and 00 buckshot.

I know you were askin about 00 BS, but hey, you didn't specify so I figured I'd play for a minute.
To answer your original question more accurately, we need to have more info. How are you plannig on huntin these porksters? Spot & stalk? Still huntin on the ground or in a stand? Dogs & horses? 4-wheelers & chasin 'em down? Day or night? How close do you plan on being to the hogs.
Since we're talkin gun powder, I'll leave arrows out.
Obviously buckshot has it's limits. The only one that comes to my mind right now is "range". I have absolutey no doubt that any hog within 50 yards can be killed with 00 buckshot. I believe that a 2 3/4 inch 12 ga. 00 BS shell contains 9 pellets. I use 3 1/2 inch 12 ga., they contain 18 pellets. I also believe that 00 BS is .32 caliber. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) So think about, nine 32 caliber lead balls hitting a hog or any other living creature. It's gonna die! With at least 9 pellets, you have room for a non-perfect shot. I'm with Rebel on the head/neck shots, especially using 00 BS. I pretty much go for a hogs neck, no matter what I'm shootin it with. If I have to carry a gun for hogs, it's gonna be my 12 gauge. Main reason, I'm quick with my shotgun. I grew up duck and dove huntin. I'm no Tom Knapp, but I know my way around my guns. Another reason is that I have up to4 quick follow-up shotsif needed. Where I hunt, I try to do my part in hog control, even though, there's no such thing. I want to take out as many as possible when I get the chance. I'm just not quick enough with a rifle. Finally, every hog that I've shot or even witnessed being shot in the head/neck with 00,dropped right there.
If you're only after one hog at a time or at further distances, I would recommend something else. But again, you only asked if 00 BS would kill any hog. It will!
