Default Mauser actions ...best qualty without breaking the bank

I am looking at a Mauser action for a rifle that is going to be built. Excluding the Charles Daly with side safety what other Action can anyone recommend that won't cost more then say 600 or so without mods. I have the CZ,Legacysport,MRC and FN mausers in mind(If I can find one) . I plan on chambering the rifle in a magnum case and I don't want to go the gunsmith conversion route. Any ideas?

Look in the Gun list or Shotgun news for a JC Higgins model 50. They are FN commerical actions and can get them for around $300 or so. vangunsmith

Yeah for some strange reason Sears chose three different suppliers for the model 50 something rifles. And they did it in only three years. I guess they thought they were makin' money.

I like the early Sako actions. I do not know what a Sako action will set you back though.

SM the MRC and the CZ are at the very top of the list..I guess it depends if I customize or buy a factory rifle.

I'm wanting to do something with a Mauser or Mauser derivative for my next rifle, but who knows when that will be. I kind of like the looks and features of that Montana action and the CZ looks good too.

I would do one of 2 things.

1. Build a 358 Norma mag on the MRC action
2. Buy a CZ 550 Safari in 375.

So far for me the CZ is the best deal out there and probably where I am heading. Gives me 2 years to fool with it before I head to Africa.
