Default 270 WSM

Hey guys anyone own a 270 WSM? How you like it? I am thinking of making this my moose/bear/ deer gun. Thanks, Spence.

Goose Getter: you might scroll down to a post started on 03/25 by BrassKeeper. Quite a bit of stuff about the .270 WSM.

Goose_getter, of all the wsm cartridges the .270 particularly impressed me it would be a great all around hunting round. With the way the .270 wsm preforms there is almost no point in buying a .270 weatherby because they are so simmilar but their is a huge difference in the price of ammo.
Good Luck.

Goose, I have been shooting a Winchester Model 70 Super Shadow in 270 WSM for about a year and a half. It is very accurate and versatile. I have loaded the 140 gr Accubonds at over 3100 fps and have also put together milder 130 gr loads at around 2950 fps. Lately I have been playing with loads for rockchucks, pushing the 90 gr Sierra and Speer TNT's at around 3500 fps with moa accuracy at 100 yards. I have some Nosler 150 gr Partition bullets, but the 140 gr Accubonds shoot so well, I am not sure if I will ever try the 150 gr Partitions. I have every confidence that the Accubonds will work fine on larger animals like moose or elk.

I just bought one myself, you might want the check out my range report post. it seems to be better suited to the lighter range of bullets to achieve it's potential, I figure to stay with 130-140 gr b/t's or sst's for deer and switch to partitions or accubond/interbond for larger should the opportunity come.
