Kleingunther rifles

Does anyone have an opinion or experience with Kleingunther rifles? Specifically the K-14,K-15's. I've heard that they have the slickest actions around, but the barrels were made so thin that they heat up fast and erode quickly. Comments/opinions?

Never owned one. From what I recall, the K-15 was also referred to the Insta-Fire (?)
for its' quick lock time. The articles I read in the mags seemed very positive of the
K-15, and reportedly very good accuracy. Sorry, never even heard of the K-14.

If I remember correctly,the k-15 offered an adjustable bedding point in the stock and was extremely accurate.The k-14 may have been the same rifle with the standard stock.

At the time Kleingunther rifles had the fastest lock-time around. Good luck.

He use to work for Wbys many year ago,went out on hhis own and designed some radical stocks,and his actiion were off the wby. The wby has the shortest stroke of all. "K" never really made it big, big but his rifles never really caught on. vangunsmith

I made a claw mount (from scratch) for one of these a few years back for a customer. It was really well made - a .270 - wonderful workmanship and attention to detail.

You haven't heard the negative part yet. The rifles were made by Voere in Germany. The ones made specifically to Klineguther's desires had a very soft receiver with a harded alloy bolt seat set inside the ring, and indexed with a set screw. The instantfire was just a marketing ploy the lock time wasn't any faster than a lot of other non mauser rifles. The ring around the bolt head was thin and subject to failure if a case seperated. The sear served as the bolt stop, and if the rifle was operated vigorously, eventually peened out of shape, with disasterous effect on the trigger pull. It had a good safety though that acted directly on the firing pin.

When you come right down to it, there's usually a good reason these odd named rifles didn't catch on.

I have a Kleingunther K15 and have had this gun for almost thirty years and it hasn't failed me yet I also have a leopold 2.5 to 8 scope attacted to same. I have won a few match shoots with this gun and is the only high powered gun I use it is a 30-06. It is extremely accurate. I ran in to a old fellow that also had one at the range a number of years ago and he shot his gun so much that he had 1 1/2 inches cut off and rebored for accuracy. The action is smooth as silk at any temperature..
