Default Which brand of action is the best?

I was looking at Chistensen Arms web site and they offer to put their barrels on any action stocked gun you supply. They will build a custom gun from scratch using, Remington, Winchester, Browning, Sako, or Weatherby. Now I am not planning on or have the money to have a custom gun built. But if you could or did already do it what action would have it built on and why? Also what action is the strongest?

I would not hesitate to use any of the actions that you listed. Nor would I pass on a Savage action. I have had several rifles built on the Model 700 action without any problem at all. I have never used a Browning action however I like the Browning rifles that I have owned. I have not seen any actoins stronger than the Savage lest it be a Mauser action. Many rifles have been built on the 98 Mauser action. People swear by the pre 64 Winchester action but I have not used one for a custom rifle.

I have used more Remington actions mostly because they were easy to find in LH.

I use remington 700 actions because they are easy to find, easy to bed and there are the most stocks and accessories available for them. Most people also find them the easiest to make accurate.

Depends on the application your considering this rifle for.

My favorites are the Sako and 700 Remington. Both make a very accurate base for a cutom shooter.

Those actions would cover a lot of different rifles and requirements and yet be lightweight and easy to accurize.

I personally like the Browning action. The Rem 700 is hard to beat though.

I would use a Sako 75 in most applications. I have a custom with 700's and its good. But I would put a new extractor system on there like the sako has already. I also have grown to love a 3 bolt lug. Second I would pick a mod 70 or mauser. Has just about everything I like.

Only issue I believe is the sako75 can be expensive for a donor a tad heavier, (I think) than a 700.

They gave Savage rights to chamber some of their cartridges but that is as far as it went. Not sure how many were sold. THey also did the same for Sako.
