What the diffence between the wsm and regular bullets

Say in a caliber 270. Is the performance better?

The WSM's are loaded a little hotter and have a little better ballistics. The cases are shorter and fatter, so the action can be shorter and the gun made slightly lighter. The powder is supposed to burn more efficiently, so the WSM's require less and are supposed to have less recoil. Whether that's true or not, I can't say as I've never shot one. The 25 WSSM I have shot is a nice gun.

fact: the wsm's and wssm's are more efficent than a longer case of the same powder capacity because bulk of the powder charge is closer to and more centraly located over the ignition source
fiction: the wssm's have less recoil than standard cartridges, the "short mag" cartridges are subject to the same physics laws as other cartridges: for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Yes the 270 wsm recoils more than a 270 win of equal weight but it has a little more power, its less than a 270 weatherby mag but it again has a lil less power than the standard mag. its like this an 8 pound rifle firing a 130 gr. bullet @ _____ fps will recoil with X amount of energy, any varience of this is just the "felt" recoil which is subject to change due to recoil pad/stock design or a couple other variables.
