Default Savage Model 99 question...

What is a good price for a Model 99 in 300 Savage Caliber in excellent condition? Seen one today for 350 and am seriously considering it. Gun was tight.....finish was excellent wood and bluing. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a pretty good price to me, but then I don't really keep track of prices for
used 99's much. You might want to check out one of the auction websites to get an idea - sort of see what they're going for there.

Well it depends on how old it is...if it is one of the older ones with a brass rotating magazine counter, than that is a great deal, but if it is a newer modle I still think that it is a fair price but not as good as a deal....

If you want one as a fine deer hunting weapon for woods hunting this is a bargain.....grab it!!
The Savage 99 is a fine gun and worthy of any man's hands in the woods.

DOE DUMPER,
AT THAT PRICE BUY IT! THOSE RIFLES ARE SO COLLECTIBLE THAT IT'S WORTH MORE THAN THAT ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. UNLESS ,OF COURSE, IT'S A DOG. BUT I ASSUME IT'S NICE OR YOU WOULDN'T BE CONSIDERING IT. A GREAT RIFLE AND A PROVEN DEER KILLER. GOOD SHOOTING.

I bought two of them last summer one around that price in Canadian dollars and one for a bit less. Both shoot very well and I used one to kill a bull moose a white-tail doe and two wolves in the fall. I like the 99 so much I may have retired my othe big game rifles for just about all my big game hunting. .300 savage is a good cartridge for most of the hunting I do.

"It would be a grevous error to underestimate a gent armed with a .300 savage. He may know something you don't." That is a quote from the #3 Nosler reloading manyal in the section dealing with the .300 savage.
