Recently got a smoking deal on a black synthetic SS 209x45 Encore. I want to replace the stock but can't decide whether to go Camo Synthetic or Boyds Laminate. If I go the stock plastic I may go either stock or thumbhole from Encore, but if I go Boyds I am going thumbhole.
Any pro's or con's other than the obvious weight of the laminate and all weather of the synthetic? Any good or bad luck stories that may sway a decision?
Nobody has an opinion on wood versus plastic? Come on, you guys have opinions on everything from caliber, bullets, brands, etc.... NO one has an opinion here?
i cant stand plastic. it just feals cheap to me. when your spending good money i want it look like it. i really like laminate or a nice piece of walnut. i have a laminate stock on my 917vs and love the looks and it seems to be very rugged but im not beating it up out on the field.
White-tail-deer,
Is that the BOYDs pepper stock? That sure looks nice. I kind of lean toward the laminate but I have two reservations about them. I hate to tote that extra weight, and I would hate to put a ig gash in that gourgous wood.
I was looking at those thumbholes, but I would imaging they would not work as good with a hammer type gun. Seems like to cock the hammer would mean moving your hand almost off the gun. Anyone had any experience w/ a thumbhols stock on an Encore?
