Default .45-70

Anyone make a .45-70 bolt action in the 3-4 hundred dollar range?

As far as I know nobody makes a 45-70 bolt gun. I have seen some built on old Mauser actions but have never seen one chambered by anyone else. The Marlin lever is probably your best best bet if you don't want a single shot. The NEF handi rifle is the least expensive way to get into a 45-70. They sell new for about 200.00 at Walmart. I have seen them at Gander Mountain and Sportsmans Warehouse for about the same price. The Ruger Number is also made in 45-70. If money is no concern then look at the Sharps reproductions or the Remington rolling block

I don't know if they are still in business, but Gibbs rifle company used to chamber a mark IV smle lee bolt action for 45/70.

There are usually a few of the rebarreled enfeilds at the local gun shops here in anchorage. My only complaint about them was thier normally short butstocks with the metal buttpads. Sometimes you will find them with new stocks and they can be quite nice.
