RE: Sling swivels in a synthetic stock??
Easy way around this:
Have a local saddlesmith or leathersmith make you a slip on sling anchor. It will be like a slip on recoil pad (which is a nice option, two birds one stone) with a sling attached. I've done this for a few synthetic stocked rifles and it has worked very well for me. You can then use the sling swivel on the forend and the slip on anchor on the butt.
I presonally prefer the way my gun rides when using a sling like this. If the guy is willing, you can also have a small gear pocket (like for call diaphrams) or shell loops sewn onto the cover. If I had a digital camera I'd load a pic of my deer rifle's sling set up...the sling mount has a built in recoil pad, 5 extra rounds, and a snap pocket to hold my tags. Probably the most functional leather item I've ever made.
