Default Benelli Inertia System (Stoeger)

Hey guys,

Can someone explain to me the upside to the Benelli Inertia system?

I heard once that there is one down side. Does someone know what it is?

I am considering picking up the Stoeger 2000. Would you guys suggest this. I will mostly be using it for Turkey and a very occaisional clay shooting.

Thanks
Tom

Only downside to the system is you may feel a little more recoil that is it. Stoeger is the only company licensed to use the Benelli system. Their Shotguns are made in Turkey.

If you can find one, the Beretta Pintail or ES100 also uses the inertia system. Maybe a little more recoil but very reliable and easy to clean. I shot very light loads out of my Pintail without a problem. Some people have problems with light loads in their Benelli SBEs but mine works great.

It may not be as dynamic as a gas operated system like 1187 and gold. In other words, low dram skeet loads might give it fits.

Where is the cheapest place to find a Stoeger 2000? I found one at Dicks for $399. Anyone know of a cheaper place.

I am considering going to Dicks and purchasing this shotgun tomorrow. Is there any reason that I shouldn't?

Thanks
Tom

You would be crazy not to purchase it. The story goes that Benelli found out that someone was making an identical shotgun without paying licensing fees. They loaded their lawyers into a jet and set out to sue them. They found the company in Turkey that was producing these knockoffs and were so impressed they purchased the company.

I bought it last night. There was only one left in the 3 stores in my area so I traveled a bit to go buy it. Unfortunetly though it has a little bit of a problem. I am going to call Stoeger today to ask them what is up with it. There are two issues 1) when I lock the action back and hit the release on occaision I will hear the release click but the action won't slide forward until I give it a slight nudge and 2) the release button is a bit tough to push and I am wondering if that is normal.

If anyone has any insight on this please let me know.

Have you cleaned the gun out and lubed it per instructions? If that doesn't work call Stoegers. My friend purchased a Beretta Silver Pigeon a few months back 20 gauge and it wouldn't eject correctly ..it had to go back. It was minor and I am sure your problem if the cleaning doesn't solve it is as well

I don't think recoil is going to be an issue. Maybe with an older system but, Benelli is now claiming to be the lightest recoiling shotgun out there.
