Winchester 1200?

I'm looking at a Winchester 1200 with a full choke manufacture barrel to purchase. My question is whether or not it is safe to shoot a T steel shot. I have had opinions that it is both okay and not okay?

It seems to me that the 1200 was made before steel shot. You would probably eventually damage the end of the full choke barrel by shooting steel through it. I wouldn't recommend it.
