Default Help me pick a scope.

Here are the choices and the price I can get on each. Any first hand experience with any would be appreciated.

Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x50-------419.00 dollars

Burris Black Diamond 4-16x50----529.95 dollars

Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50----------599.00 dollars

Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50---------589.00 dollars

Lets hear it. Even if you have a negative opinion of any of the listed scopes fire away. I want to hear them all.

I agree with stubblejumper, I own 2 Conquests and they are superior. I also own a Vari XIII, owned 4200 elite and owned a Burris Sign Series...no contest when you consider all the attributes of each scope---------ZEISS!

Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 x 44 MC; a 50mm objective is not necessary. Good luck.

Todd, I like my Vari X III in 4.5 x 14. Just make sure your not over powering your rifle for the hunting conditions you intend to use the scope. I mounted mine on a 7mm Rem. Mag. and love it. I tried one on my 308 Win. and it was a bit much for the hunting situations which I use this rifle. The Vari X III in 2.5 to 8 fit this rifle to a tee. The scope poll at the top of this forum pretty much says it all.

a 50mm objective on a 1" tube is pointless. Either get a 30mm tube or look into 40-44mm on a 1" tube

Black Diamond ....these are equal or better than the leupold or conquest, cheaper and made in the USA. Conquest and leupold are made from parts all over the world. The Black Diamond is pushing Swarovski. good luck, Rick.

None of the above.

Have you looked at Weaver Grand Slams? Outstanding quality for under $400.

Check out the 4.5-14x40MM options.....
