Default .223 General Sighting Question.

New to the forum! Wow! Everything I have read has been really interesting.

I just adopted a New England .223 with a Red Head 4x12.40mm scope. It is an uber fun rifle. Can someone give me a web-site that has some statistical informaiton about this gun. What I am trying to find out what is the max distance I should attempt to shoot with a .223. This is only a varmint gun. Most of my buddies are archers and can't agree on what punch this gun delivers at different distances.

The scope is awesome. I don't know the technical term for it but it has a clarifying lens in the front that ranges from 0-150 yds.

I am using Coyote 55 gr. bullets. Any help would be appreciated.

That caliber will kill varmints at whatever range you can reliably hit them. In other words, if you can make the shot, you'll kill the varmint.

We've shot crows at 200 yards w/ one. The little gun will shoot farther than most people think. We've also shot coyotes at the same distance.

I shoot 62 gr. soft points. I have killed more yotes than I could count over 400 yards.I can tell you if you shoot it a TON you will beable to kill them out as far as you can hit them :} I have shot at many yotes over 1000 havent killed one yet but I will.I only shot at them in snowjust in case I do hit them.
