I"™ve got a Rem 870 Express with the Mossy Oak Plastic (plastic-like?) stock and forearm. I"™d like to put a traditional sling on it, complete with the quick-disconnect sling swivels. This is where I"™m kind of stumped. I know several manufacturers make sling swivel sets, like Uncle Mike"™s, that have the magazine cap nut with the eyelet to attach one end, and that"™s okay, but the back end is what I"™m concerned about. Those same swivel kits come with a screw-in eyelet for the back"¦you just drill a hole in the stock and screw the eyelet post in. That"™s all well and good if you have a wood stock, but like I said I have a plastic one. The plastic stock for the most part is hollow, but seems to be thicker at the bottom where I"™d have to drill the hole, but it still doesn"™t look thick enough to me to securely fasten the eyelet and then stand up to the rigors of field use. I don"™t want to drill the hole, only to have it not work, and then have a butchered up stock. I"™d thought that maybe I could beef up that area with epoxy from the inside"¦ but at the same time I don"™t want it to be too rednecked if you know what I mean. I thought about using the eyelet post that has threads and a nut, but I"™m still concerned that the plastic material might not hold up. Is there another mounting kit that I"™m not aware of for plastic stocks? Has anybody else done something to mount the back swivel on a plastic stock that I"™ve just not thought of yet? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Gorse...yeah, I saw that rib when I removed the butt pad...was just still concerned it wouldn't be tough enough to hold. So that rib is solid then? I was concerned that it might be hollow too. Okay...I'll take the plunge. Now where's my drill............
