Default Replacement stock for 700 ADL

Looking for a good synthetic stock to save my beautiful walnut. Not wanting to spend a ton of money but I don't want a piece of junk either. Are the factory Remington synthetics any good? Ram Line? Pillar/aluminum/glass bedded would probably be preferred.

of the ones i've bought hs precision (sp) has been the best, i bought a ramline and took it off my ruger m77, and i've got a model 700 with a rem syn. don't know who makes it and its ok. i also got a houge overmolded stock on my 10-22 and i really like it. if i were you i'd look at a bunch and remeber this is for sure an area where you get what you pay for.

best of luck

kel I broke the toe off my ADL stock about 10 years ago (learned my damned lesson, now I NEVER carry a gun in anything but a hard case! [:@] ) and replaced it with a factory Rem synthetic stock. Its the exact same stock that is now standard on the ADLs. Its a cheap hollow injection molded stock for around $100 or so. The gun was worked while in the previous stock so the only remaining mods that stayed with the barreled action was a trigger/safety job and a recrown of the barrel. In the plastic stock the gun still drives tacks. BUT... it then kicked like a mule! [:'(] I mean cross you eyes, cant believe it was a plain old 06. I replaced the pad last fall with a R3 (Sims) pad and the thing is a dream now. In fact I put a new scope on it earlier lastyear and sighted the gun in from the prone position. The R3 on my collar bone was fine. NEVER before would I have had that luxury with the stock pad. Getchu a R3 equipped stock and do it! Molded plastic is molded plastic. They are ALL fugly (well ok the various colored webs in kevlar/carbon fibre are nice!) and unless you are paying for custom bedding or alloy blocks, why pay $50 or $100 more for the same thing?

Good luck,
RA

well-made piece - in some cases, better than aftermarket stocks
in the case of the ram line stocks i would say this for sure

The synthetic stocks on the adl's work....although them an Remington's are thoroughly trashed on this board. My guns with em group like hell...they do also kick like a mule as Red noted....I see R3 pads in the future for both of mine. They arent pretty but I have no complaints.

The .308 isn't uncomfortable for me, in any case - but the R3 made it feel like a .22.
man i love to hear positive things about a product like this, the last big rifle i purchased was a rem 700 s/s in 7mmSTW, recoil is not as bad as you'd think mainly because the gun has a factory installed brake[:@], i own one other gun w/brake when there gone i'll be done with the brakes
