Anybody know where I might be able find those little brass screw fasteners for rifle slings locally? I have tried the crafts stores and guns shops with no success.

Try a hardware store locally the Ace hardware has them

Check gun shops they are called Chicago screws. The ones I have seen are sold by Uncle Mikes or Uncle Mikes (Michaels of Oregon ).
When I see them they are in a bulk pack of 24 sets for $23.98 retail price .If a shop has then I am sure you can buy just 1 or 2 sets.
