i thought that they only put cal.'s like 30 30 in lever action because of the tube mags and the round nosed bullets.i seen a 243 the other day but i didnt get the manufacturs name. could anyone help me i would like to have one of these rifles
Probably a Savage 99. It has a rotary magazine rather than a tube.
Or a Browning BLR. These have a magazine rather than a tube.

As noted, could have been a Savage 99, but they are no longer made.
Browning BLR is available in 243, along with several other chamberings including a couple of magnum rounds. Both the Savage and the Browning BLR use a box magazine,
and so you can use pointed bullets, which you can't use in a tube magazine.
my dad has a winchester 94 in a 30 30 cal i like that model's looks. is ther any way that you could get a 270 or 243 in that model or any other gun that lookes like the 94
There have been a few "vertical" or Rotary mag leveractions made, some history, some current...The Savage 99, Ruger 96, BLR, a Remington, and the Winchester 1895 to name a few.
What you saw is likely a BLR (Browning Leveraction Rifle).

Winchester model 88 was also a lever gun that was avalible in .243. Also Sako made one for a while, "Finwolf" I think they called it.
I bought a used Savage 99 in .300 savage last summer and used it to kill a moose, a white-tail and two wolves. It shoots very nice small groups and can hold 6 shots when full. Like everyone I prefer to use one shot for a quick kill but it is sometimes nice to have fast follow up shots.
If you don't like the .30-30, the Marlin leveractions are available in a few other classic cartridges. The .35Rem, .444Mar, .450Mar, or .45-70 are all very capable hunting rounds (as is the .30-30).
If you're turned away from the .30-30 because of it's "weak" reputation, forget about it...the .30-30 is a VERY capable cartridge. I've used it for deer clear out to 200yrds with no arguements by my harvests.

Guys, what about the .218 BEE? My dad picked up Marlin lever in 218 BEE cheap and had intentions of selling it to make a little. But, he had a hard time turning it over because of its "straight line" loading design. I don't recall the model #. Any thoughts?

Buddy of mine has a Winchester 94 chambered in .307. It is essentially the .308 with a slightly different case so that it works in the lever gun. Nice shooting gun, but hard to find ammo.
