Default 300 WSM!!!

Got my bonus so I am going to buy a new .300WSM. Going to put a Leopold Ver-X III on the gun but, I don"™t know what brand to get it in. I was thinking of getting it in a Sako, Tikka, Browning, Remington, or if any one has any ideas please share them with me.

Sako if you can afford it. I'm about to buy a 300 win mag in the Sako. They claim 5 shot group within 1" at 100 yds out of the box. No one else can claim that!

Check out the Winchester Model 70, Camo Ultimate Shadow, Stainless. My father just purchased one in .270WSM and it shoots great out of the box!! Less than 1"MOA.

I"™m not sure if you"™re looking for a rifle with the synthetic stock but I was in the market for a new rifle with a synthetic stock and s/s barrel last month. I looked at quite a few models but it was the Sako that caught my attention. I didn"™t like the hollow sound on the other stocks. There was just something about the Sako stock that appealed to me especially with the rubber section for additional grip in cold weather. I also like the removable clip that would fit in just right with out any problems. The overall look and feel of the Sako was what impressed me.
The Tikka rifle might have been my second choice but there was just something about the plastic parts that I didn"™t like and also the one long action for both short and long cartridges . I also looked at the Rem. 700 Titanium but the price was about the same as the Sako so I went for Sako instead. I haven"™t had the opportunity to shot my rifle yet but it won"™t be long. Good Luck.....

I am going to buy one in a synthetic stock and s/s barrel. My Dad just bought a .338 two days ago and I sighted it in for him today and I really liked the gun so now I am thinking of buying it in a .338, but I would like to hear what other people think.

So what I am really asking now is should I buy one in .300WSM or should I buy the .338 right away. I use my .280 for deer so I will use this gun for elk, moose, karabo, and beer. I really like everyones input.

I think either one will be a little bit over kill for beer cans. Even the big 44's won't put up much of a fight.

For elk, moose, and bears I would wait until the 325 WSM hits the market and buy that one. Ammo availability will be limited for a while but I doubt it will stay that way for long. You better snatch one up wuick though cause I doubt that the will stay on the shelves for very long.

If not I'd buy the 300WSM for the simple fact that it does not have a belted case. I much prefer a smooth bottle neck case to a belted one.

There is no game animal in NA that can't be taken cleanly with the 300 WSM. You can go bigger if you want but there is no real need to. I have had two 338's and was never impressed at all. Could see no practical difference between it and the 300 Win Mag.
