Default Hornady Light Mags

Does any one use these? They sound pretty nice. Hornady has the ballistics for the .308 Win. with 150gr. SST bullets listed at 2997 ft-lbs at the muzzle, and with a 200yd. zero, they drop 6.9 at 300yd.

Their .30-06 Light Mag 150gr was pushing 3100fps or something, thats almost as fast as my 7mm Mag!

From the reports I have heard and read they sound better on paper than they print on paper! AKA many find them hard to get good groups with. I have no experience with hornady light mags though so it is just hersay really. Only way is to try them and see how they fly in your rifle!

Good Luck

I have fired them over the chronograph and shot targets with them. They didn't produce the advertised velocity or group well in the three guns that I tested them in.

I have only used the 444 LM's and was amazed that they actually shot within 15fps of the printed data and of each other. Very good groups, my gun likes em.

I shoot the load in question for all of my hunting...Even though I handload they provide me the best accuracy out of my Model 88 Winchester than any other load I have ever tried by a long shot. Most groups experienced with this load are 1" range sometimes slightly smaller but rarely larger, and they also perform well on deer. I would recommend them even though others seem to not like them, I think that it is the best 308 factory load out there!

They are jammed packed full of real slow powder. A friend gave me a batch. Shot 3" groups in a FN SPR that shoots .5MOA all day with Black hills and got worse results in his A-Bolt. So I tried it in my browning. I got like 2" and I shoot subMOA with varget and 165gr gamekings. I then chrono'd and hit 2840fps. Well off the advertised spec. But I do have a 24" barrel. I get that with varget and 150gr BT.

Don't waste your money. Get the regular Hornady stuff.
