Default History of a Colt 1903

I've recently purchased a Colt 1903 Army issue .38 double action revolver in excellent condition. It has matching serial numbers and all inspector proofs.

I would like to research the history of this particular weapon. Can anyone point me in the right direction on researching Colt's by serial number or whatnot?

Also, any guesses on this guns value? I have my own thoughts but would like to see if there are any Colt collectors out there with similar thoughts. PM me if you have the time.
