My battery looks like this;
22lr,
223,
22-250,
25-06,
7mm-STW,
300-win.mag
375-Remington Ultra Mag.
I sold a 270-winchester & 7mm-08. I might sell the 25-06? The 375 & 25-06 were new in 2004. The 375 will be my "do all" gun during the 2005 hunting season.
Theres definite overlap in the 223 and 22-250 and in the 7mm STW and 300 Win mag, and I dont see any reason to sell the 25-06
I shoot too many prairie dogs & gophers to sell any varmit rifles.
My 7mm-STW is a Remington Sendero, it is heavy. The 7mm-STW was a gift that I will never sell.
The 25-06 I bought as a light carry deer/antelope rifle.
I could sell the 300-win. mag & the 25-06??? I am still trying to decide what to sell next???
Why sell any of them? I am trying to get as many as possible. One can never have too many guns in their home.

Wk,
If you realy wan't to sell that 25-06,I would like to buy it from you.
If I were you I would sell one or the other the .223 or 22-250. add a .338 and the 270 Wsm,keep the 25-06 and add the 416 Rem mag or any of the BIG .400 cal's
Then would have a stack up like this.
22 LR
.223 Rem
25-06 Rem
270 WSM
7mm STW
.300 Win Mag
.338 Win Mag or Ultra
.375 Ultra
.416 Rem Mag
and then add a Nitro or something
You could also add a 6mm Rem also it makes a good varmiter.
Just my thoughts.

That's not bad if you're looking to minimize your battery without limiting your capabilities. This isn't really far off from a batter I have, just a LOT less guns, if I were to build a minimal battery with out excessive overlap but without any gaps, this would be it:
.410bore single shot
12ga pump gun
.22lr semiauto or pump rifle
.22-250 bolt action varmint/target rifle
.243win, .257Roberts, or 6.5x55swede compact bolt rifle
.308win, .30-06, or .300WM bolt action standard rifle
.338Win mag bolt rifle
.416Rigby Bolt action
Granted, there would be some overlap between the "light mid-weight" .243 class and the .300 class, and there are a LOT of cartridges in any respective class that could replace any of those in my list, i.e. a .458Win or Lott or even a .375H&H for the .416Rigby, or maybe a .223 or .220swift instead of the .22-250.
Not to mention there is not any room in the "minimalist battery" for my beloved .44mag rifles, nor "fun guns" like an SKS or AR-15-->although strong arguements can be made that the AR-15 could replace the .22-250. There's also a .45-70 lacking from the list. A classic .30-30 should find a home at least temporarily in everyone's battery.
