Help marine that shot iraqi enemy

As an active duty military member I can tell you that while signing a petition may give you a warm fuzzy, it won't do squat for that Marine. He will be tried under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and if found guilty he will be punished under the same code. Congress will have nothing to do with it. Having sat on a Courts Martial board I can tell you he has a better chance of being acquited than convicted. You guys can sign whatever you want, but the system must run its course.

Ah, but never underestimate the pull of one or more senators/congressmen...you know the saying that the s**t always rolls down hill. Well you can bet that there are a bunch of congressmen that know a few Generals than know a couple Colonels, so on and so forth that can put pressure on the powers that be to see that this Marine is at least treated fairly and not convicted in the court of public opinion. I was serving on Camp Lejeune when the Aviano trial was underweigh (remember the Marine EA-6B that clipped the gondola cable in Italy back in either '98 or '99) and remember how. I remember clearly the media circus that was outside the JAG office on Lejeune every day during that trial, and I also remember just how hard they tried to fry that pilot for doing his job. And when they couldn't pin one charge on him, they tried him again for destruction of evidence or some such.

I may be stating something that you all may already know but, the problem here lies with the media. I mean, if the media would just realize what our men and women are going through over there and realize WHO THEY ARE PROTECTING they would think before they turn these videos over and try to get our boys in trouble. Im sure these things happened in previous wars but the media wasnt there to record it. I think they should tell them to stay the he// out until the area clear, then let them come in a take some shots of the aftermath. Just my .02 worth

this first and foremost... the rules are a lot different when you're dealing with animals... yes I said it and stand by it ANIMALS... any group of things that live, act, and have no more reverance for human life than they do, do not deserve to be accorded the rules of warfare...

MossyOak... great idea... keep the reporters out of the hot zones and let them boys do their jobs... had those left wing liberal media clowns tried this mess back in the 60's there'd a been a much higher casualty rate for them... let the military do what they need to do to get the job done...
