Default Just jumped on a 270 WSM!

I have been considering a 270 WSM for a few months now and I finally jumped on one. My local sporting goods store had a deal on a Model 16 Savage with the accu-trigger that I could not pass up. The Simmons scope that was on it will have to go....but I'm impressed with the rifle itself. Especially that accu-trigger, it is really impressive! Hopefully in the coming weeks I can get out and find out what it likes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm looking at that rifle since I can't seem to locate a Tikka for a good price. Seems like a good rifle, congrats. www.shortmags.org has lots of info dedicated to the WSM's.

Not to pry, but would you mind telling me what you paid for it?
Thanks.

Welcome to the family of short mags. I got my .270 wsm in January 2004. I got the Winchester model 70 in synthetic stock with the stainless barrel. I originally put a Simmons Pro-50 6-18x50 powere scope on it but I was having trouble with the mounts and decided to get the Leupold rifleman in a 4-12x40. It shoots great for me. I took it out to the range and was getting it dialed in. I was using those shoot-n-see targets and after a shot I was wondering where did I hit. Well a few seconds later I said "wasn't there an X in the center" well now there was a hole. That was as sighted in as I needed to see. It performed well for me. I worked up some reloads and went with the Nosler CT Ballistic Tips in 130 grain. They worked well for me to shoot my biggest deer to date this November.
