Default I chronographed the 25-06

The weather was not to bad today so I went out and run the 100 grain Corlokt factory loads and my Handloaded Nosler 100 grain ballistic tips. The Corlokts averaged 3064 fps. My handloads with 54.0 grains of H4831 clocked an average of 3058. Very consistant with only 6 fps extreme spread for three shots. I would usually shoot at least five but the sky condidtions were perfect. However the temp and wind was not. I just wanted to get done. As a rule when they are that consistant, more shots are not really needed. I weighed each load. I won't have time to work up another load so I will stick with that one until after season. If I stay with Ballistic tips I will probably go with the 115 grain. If I go with Partitions I will stay with the 100 grain for a deer load.

Just a friendly warning, I also chronographed my 25-06 loads a few years ago, with 53 Gr. of IMR 4831 and it muzzled at 3060, the same day I had 5 more shells loaded with the same powder but 5 with 54 Grs. 5 with 55 Grs. and 5 with 56 Grs. I went on to fire 3 shots with the ones loaded with 54 Grs. and I blew the primers out of all 3, needles to say I did not fire the others for fear of what may happen. they ended up in the Bay.

If that load is safe in these temp's be real carfull in the summer .
Presures can spike quickly with a 50 deg temp rise.
Safe winter loads can be overloads in the summer heat.
I found this out with sub max loads in a 22-250 with a short throat

Thanks fior the warning. These loads showed no sign of pressuer and the primers looked fine. In comparing preasures in the hodgdon manual the H4831 shows just 49000 lbs. Other loads with the same bullet showed pressures up to 51000. All Of the Alliany loads that I looked up were over 50000 lbs. This is just a way to compare the different loads. The same manual show 46500 lbs for 3200 fps with H870. I didn't have any of that on hand though. I will try that and also AA 3100.
