I have an extensive collection of past wants sitting in the safe and do not regret a one. If there is a slightly shorter barrel, maybe 20", that would make a nice little carbine. A .44 Mag through a 20" barrel would suprise you, good for whitetail at a fair distance, at least 50 -75 yards. I really think you should get it, then as an afterthought get a nice .44 revolver to keep it company. Just one man's opinion who happens to be a serious toy junkie.
I hate to go against the grain, but if you can't hunt with it and don't need it, then why buy it? If you plan on plinking with it, 44mag ammo will get deep in your pocket. I'd spend the money on something I could actually use instead of something thats just going to sit in the safe and collect dust. just my .02

If we all needed a reason to buy a new rifle, pistol, etc. we'd all be in trouble. Just think up something....hmmmm need a reason to buy 44 mag dies, etc for that next pistol...one thing leads to another. I know....my wife doesn't buy it either but I keep trying.
