Default 25 06????

Im thinking of gettinga 25 06. I already have a 243 and a 30 06 but am looking for a new addition. it will be used for mulies mostly, on famrland and yotes. Im not saving pelts im just taking care of the population which has grown out of control near my sister house. I know the 243 would be better suited for it but its what my father uses.what do you all think of this round? and problems with it? any comments?

My first and favorite rifle. Taken many deer & bear and one moose. Also deadly on smaller game with lighter bullets. Yes I know many will say too light for moose but if you keep your shots under 150 yards and broadside it has no problem. 30.06 is my main moose rifle but the 25.06 is my back up now. You'll love a 25.06.

Best Wishes

The only thing I regret about my 25-06 is I did not buy it sooner.
I think it makes a Perfect deer, antelope & heavy varmit round.

What he said. For your intended uses I think you'll find the 270Win. to be more versatile. Not that there's anything wrong with the 25-06, but the 270 is better suited to
larger game, and will still do a good job on those yotes. In fact, if you handload, Sierra
makes a really good 90gr.HP for the 270 (.277).

Why dose everyone always say something that don't pertain to the question.

Yes the 270 is agreat round a true classic. He didn't ask about the 270.

The 25-06 is a classic also, not as popular as it once was but still a very great round.

Gopher,
I have owned several diffrent 25-06 and the are a AWSOME round for what you intened and then some.IMHO it is superior to the 243 or 6mm,250-3000 and the 257 R.(all great rounds) for deer.As coy-dog gun the 100 Ballistic Tips are incredible. For deer and Antelope the 115-117 gr bullets will work great.
Good luck and Happy Hunt'in.
