Default Got a GREAT deal on a new Sako 75 w/ Nikon Monarch UCC scope!

I went to Scheel's today to look at rifles (specifically CZ and Tikka, but also just to browse). Anyway, they've had this stainless/grey synthetic Sako 75 in 7mm STW with a Nikon Monarch UCC 3.5-10x44 scope on display there for a long time, and no one's bought it. I've always though that Sako 75's were very nice rifles, but the price for the gun is prohibitive. This one was no different as it was priced at $1099 which if generally out of my price range for the rifle only. But, being one that appreciates a fine rifle, no matter what the price, I couldn't help but pick it up and look it over. Anyway, the gun manager comes over and asks me if I could use some help, and I just asked him for curiousity sake if the price on that rifle was ever going to drop because Sako's discontinued the 7mm STW and 7mm Ultra Mag from their lineup. So he looks at the tag and tells me to hang on a minute and he'll check to see if he can get me a deal on it since it'd been there so long (and has a couple scratches on the synthetic stock from not so careful handling). He comes back shortly and tells me he would let me have the rifle WITH the scope, for just the price of the rifle ($1099)! Well, after I picked my jaw up off the floor I told him I'd talk to the boss (my wife, who was there with me 'cause she likes guns too) and let him know. Anyway, she gave me the go ahead as long as I put it on layaway for a couple months (bless her little heart).

So it boils down to getting an $1100 rifle and a very good $400 scope for free, or got an $1100 Sako for the price of a Remington M700, all because I asked a simple question out of nothing more than idle curiousity. Man I'm stoked! One more reason to move my butt out west so I have something worthy of hunting with it.

You bought yourself a great combo. You don't have to move out west to hunt there, just drive out. I did it this year and for me its no different than driving the family to Florida and I do that every March break. Enjoy your Sako, I know I do mine.
