6.5x55mm

I have a Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55mm. It has a new Timney Trigger. The barrel has been shotened and re-crowned. The barrel and action have been re-blued and parkerized. The rifle is one of the later ones that were made by Husquvarna in the 1940's. I would like to get a good synthetic (composite or fibergass) stock for it. Who makes the better ones and what would I specify if I ordered one? Would one just order one for a mauser action or what? Thanks.

Hi Clint,

You'll want to be very careful to specify your particular Mauser, as there are all different models and the actions are of somewhat different sizes. You'll want one that fits Model 96 or Model 38 actions. A stock for a Model 98 Mauser action will not fit correctly.

Good luck. I've got two M38 Swedes myself, plus a CZ550 in 6.5x55. All are wonderful rifles to shoot, accurate, and very mild on the shoulder.

I put a Ram Line stock on mine (Black Synthetic) Folks will howl that they are a cheap stock. They are at about 65-85 dollars depending on where you find it. The one for the 96 mauser fits most of the Swedes. I put a Timney trigger on mine to. Great shooting guns. Never found a bad one. Nothing wrong with the Ramline stocks. We did about 60 of the Swedes and resold them.
