What do you all think of the vanguard weatherby

Great shooters for the money. I bought one in .338, but she was too heavy to pack up and down the mountains all day.

The Vanguard is produced by Howa of ***an. These are quality, accurate rifles and when it wears the Weatherby name you have a 1.5" 3-shot group accuracy guarantee. The drawback is that they are on the heavy side. This isn't a mountatin rifle. If you are a stand hunter it will be great and the extra weight will make you a steadier shot. These rifles are $388 at Wal Mart in my neck of the woods. Once or twice a year they will close them out at around $319.

bought one last month in .270 for $225 at Wal-Mart. Havn't shot it yet. didn't seem heavy to me but what do I know? I'll put a scop on it this summer and hunt with it some next year. Eventually I'll pass it to one of my boys.
