Default Semi-auto shotgun jamming

I am having a problem with my semi-auto jamming. It is not ejecting the shell. I have always had a problem and usually if I bought better shells it resolved this, but even shells that used to work are not working anymore. I have cleaned the gun well, but am lost after that. Any of you guys have any suggestions?

Have you given it a thorough cleaning. By this I mean not just the barrel and chamber but also the striped bolt, shell tube, trigger mech. and return spring. On my Winchester semi. cheap shells dirty the trigger mech. so much that the safety will not engage. I now only use better quality shells with no problems.

Best Wishes

Not sure what shotgun you have, but I have the Remington 11-87 and I had a problem last year, it would eject the spent shell, but it wouldn't cycle a fresh shell from the magazine to the chamber. What it ended up bein was the simple rubber O ring, cost a few cents at a plumbing supply store

Check if the gas port is pluged. O ring good ? If it has the return spring in the stock , take the stock off and clean and LIGHTLY lube it . If all else fails send it back to the factory .

The gas ports are a great place to start; normal barrel swabbing won't get them clean enough. Also I have Franchi 12 gauge that won't shoot light loads with any sort of constancy. That may be the problem as well, I have to use heavy loads or work it like a pump with a really small handle, so try that out.

I bought a Stoeger 2000 (Benelli copy) and it would jam with low power loads. Used a cotton swab and some Mobil One on bolt and reciever and haven't had a problem since.not a gas operated gun..

What kind of semi-auto? Each has its own idiosyncracies that can cause failures. Give us a little more info. Make, model, and age.

It is a 20GA Ithaca Featherlight. I would say I've had it about 10 years and bought it used.

I would definately be cleaning gas ports and Id be willing to bet the o ring is shot, you can get one at any plumbing supply store and lube it a little when installing. Good luck.

How big are gas ports? They are part of the barrel? I also didn't see an Oring. The good news is that I did break the gun down more than ever before to get it clean. I looked at the extractor and it looked a little worn, so I might just order a new one and put it in.

Thanks for all the help
