Default 243 or 270? in 7600

hey i am trading in my 223 and at the store where i am trading it in at they have 2 remington mod. 7600's. one a 243 and one a 270. i could get either one for $75 after the trade in. and i took a look at the 270 and figured this is what i should get however it dosen't have the swivel studs and the 243 dose. owning both a 243 and 270 i would rather get a 270 for the hunting that i want to use it for.

where can i pick up swivel studs for the 270 and how would i put them on? one attaches to the barrel above the pump the other is normall and needs to be put into the wood. how much are they going to cost? do you think it is worth the extra effort or should i just get the 243 and have what i want?

You can pick these up from www.midwayusa.com. Here's a link:

I put this setup on my 742 many years ago. The front end is easy, the back end requires that you be able to drill a hole in the stock and get it straight. Mine is not quite perfect but nobody will notice but me. They do sell a jig these days to help you get the hole straight and if I ever did this again I would get the jig. These are expensive, though, and if you can start the hole straight without one and are careful you will probably be ok. Here's a link for the jig:

You might also see what a gunsmith charges to install these.

Hope this helps.
