Default Marlin MR7

Can anyone tell me anything about these discontinued bolt actions from Marlin? Are they good shooters? I have a chance to purchase one that looks like new in 270 Win. What would be a good price?

Default RE: Marlin MR7

I bought a Marlin MR7 270 about 2 years ago for my son. It has been an excellent rifle with all of the features we were looking for (3 position safety, satin finish, drop plate) and it's a good shooter. I bought it, new, just as the model was being discontinued, for about $350.00 with no scope. I would think that you could get it for less than $300.00 used. If you can get it for a fair price, I would highly recommend this rifle.
