I think remington are the only ones who ever made them. And despite Craig Boddingtons best efforts to make it his signature round like Oconner's .270 it never took hold and could not compete commercially with the .338 winmag. I think it was dropped years ago.

Found one for sale on GunBroker.com. Seems a little pricey to me, but off hand I don't
know of anyone currently making rifles for the 8mm Rem.Mag. I think you'd be better off looking into a .338 Win.Mag. Anyway, here's a link to the one on GunBroker.com:

The 8 MM was a very good cartridge for bigger game. In my opinion, Remiongton gave up to soon on it. They are famous for not supporting thier own developments. However I quess there are a lot of other calibers that will do the same job. They can't all make it in a crowded market. I think a custom rifle may be the only way to get one.

I had an 8mm Remington Magnum in a Model 700 until a few years ago. I traded it off for something else.....man I wish I had it back. It was an awesome rifle. When I hit a deer with that it was all over! I never had to look beyond the place where I hit him.

This chambering is available from the Remington Custom Shop. The rifle will cost in the area of $1200-1500. Your other avenue to gain a rifle will be attend some gun shows and try to find a used rifle. You can also look at online sources and find a rifle. Ammo isn't readily available and what is available is limited to the Remington safari grade load. You could also buy a Magnum chambered rifle and have it rebarreled. This is a good way to go as if I were going the 8 mag route I would have a 26" barrel installed on my rifle. I do have an acquintance that owns an 8 Mag Rem. 700 Classic. This rifle has a 24" barrel and was purchased new. This is his elk rifle. He uses a 220 gr. bullet but I can't think of the manufacturer. I have seen some unbelievable groups from this gun. I'm talking .335" at 100 yards and 300 yard groups of 1". This particular person shoots in bench rest competition and has alot of money to invest in firearms and reloading components. He helped me get started in reloading. To put his rifle in this accuracy category he had to float the barrel and bed the action. He also lightened the trigger. These are the only mods he has made to the gun. I think the 8mm mag is an excellent round and should receive more accolades. If you don't handload I would look to one of the 300 mags or one of the 338's. Factory ammo is readily available for most of these and is a little cheaper.

I don't know about 8MM Mags... but my Buddys' WW2 German Mauser in 8MM will cut the same hole at 100 yds.. man, that gun can shoot... it's been sporterized(stock-scope-trigger), but that dude is awesome for a production military arm!!!

A great underrated round that was dropped by REmington because of sales. Seems like if nothing takes off saleswise for them they immediately drop it or don't push it. Look at the 6mm 280 7STW and a few more.
