Which Savage Arms 110GXP3 , 111FXP3 , 116FXP3 ???
Hello I’m looking for a good deer rifle ant a good price,
I heard a lot of good about Savage arms and model 111F rifle in particular.
The caliber will be either 7mm or 30-06 . Which would you recommend?
I would prefer Wood Stock over synthetic but as far as I can see the only one available in wood is the 110GXP3 line .
Which Savage Arms do you have or had experience with and would you recommend to buy?
Does anyone know hat is the difference between those (110GXP3 , 111FXP3 , 116FXP3).
As a package are those good outfits? Does anyone know what brand of scopes do they use ?
110GXP3 , 111FXP3 , 116FXP3
Also what is the difference between the 10(11FXP3) and 100(110GXP3) model line?
The only thing I could notice is that, they are chambered in different calibers.
Thanks For all the help

Wojak-
The two digit models (10, 11, 16, etc.) are short action cartridges (.243, 260, 308, etc.), the 3 digit models (110,111,116, etc) are long action, ie .30-06, 7 RM, .270, etc.
The scopes on these rifles are typically either Bushnells or Simmons lower end scopes.
I own a Savage 110GXP3 in .30-06, with the Bushnell 3-9x32 scope on it. I bought it 5 years ago. If I do my part, I can get groups in the 1" range with no problem. They are not very pretty, but are typically very rugged and accurate.
All of the actions are based on the 110, with only minor differences. The 110 is the base model. The 116 is SS/Synthetic. The 111, I think has a detachable box magazine. Other than those few differences, the action, bolt, safety, everything is the same between the rifles.
Hope this helps.

I would have to go to thier site to see what different ones you are refering to. I have owned about every model of rifle that Savage makes and I was a dealer for about 20 years so I sold most all of them as well. They all basically use the same action and its a good strong action. As tough as anything else out there. The triggers were never real good as far as being shootable but they used to be adjustable. The lasy ones I have had were not. I would not hesitate to buy a Savage rifle as you will get a good solid accurate rifle at a good price. I would however get one that has thier new accu-trigger although a gunsmith can install a good after market trigger for less than an arm and a leg. All thier new rifles now come with the accu-trigger. If you are going to be useing it for deer only I would look at a middle caliber such as the 7mm-08 or 308. If you plan to use it for bigger game then the 30-06, 7mm Mag or 300 Mag might be what you want. As I recall Savage makes rifles in at least the 300 WSM as well. I don't know for sure what other WSM calibers they might carry. I no longer like the heavy recoiling rifles so If it were for me then the 06 would be my upper limit. It would do a good job on all North American game providing you do your part. Good Luck and good hunting.

The only point at which the 7mm cartridges will pale before the .30cal cartridges, is when you may want to go to a heavier bullet. If you are going to be happy staying with 175gr bullets or less, the 7mm family of cartridges is a great choice. I have had the 7mmRemMag in three different rifles. I still have one in a Tikka. That said, I prefer the 7mmWSM, as that round will do all that the longer 7mmRemMag will do, in a shorter, lighter package.
Your best bet is go to a firearms retail shop and pick up all the rifles and handle them as much as the dealer will allow. Shoulder them standing, kneeling, sitting and if possible, prone. After handling a fair number of rifles, one of them will likely sell itself to you, taking the guess work out of deciding which to buy.
