Default Scope mounting ?? UPDATED

I would like to take the scope off my 30.06 which is zero'd perfect and put it on a 7mm I was just give.

Is it possible that removing the scope and placing it in the 7mm mounts that it will still be close to ZERO?

Or do you think bore sighting is needed before a paper check at the range?

Just a little info both have weaver mounts.

Thanks
AL

You may as well get used to the idea that you are starting all over , because that is basicly what your doing . Good luck .

Just slap it on your other rifle, get the rig set up in a gun vise so that you can look down the bore and center your bore view on a paper bullseye at 25 yards...then -without moving the rifle- move your scope crosshairs on to the bullseye as best you can...then fire at least 2 shots for a group. Now- without moving the rifle move your cross hairs to target the first group you just fired..........then take it to the 100 yard range and check out a 3 shot group and re-adjust.

I second 8mm/06, it will not take long and will save ammo and frustration at the range.

Just got my gun back from boresighting. I had taken off my scope with rings still attached.......mounted the scope on new gun with bases..... and vola ...bore sighted the gun in (not much adjustments needed) Took it to the range and it was set to go.

I never had to make 1 adjustment to the rifle at all. Bang on at 50 yards 1.5" high at 100 and (my shooting) was high at 200 yards by an 1" inch.

Must have been pure luck

Some days you step in it, some days you don't. Very lucky indeed!
