Default Savage Mark II rimfires? Target Barrel???

The good the bad the ugly. That is pretty much my only option, because im a southpaw. I know they arnt too flashy, but are they accurate, that is my biggest question. And should i go with the target barrel. Is it worth the extra money?

no. I have a MKII, and it shoots very well the way it is. Being a standard contour, it's light to carry, and with the crappy triggers prone to all the cooey's, CIL's, and Savages, you probably won't notice a huge difference. My standarf MKII will kill gophers out to 100 yards without much problems.

.22 LR. But I did have one each in .17 HMR and .22 WMR as well. All three shot very well considering the $. I can't say anything bad about them.

Is the .22 WMR worth the extra money of the shells. How much more is it to shoot 50 shots then the .22 LR? I am still not sure what i want.

If you don't have a .22, get one. In all fairness, nothing can touch that little popper. You can buy 500 rds of .22 ammo, compared to only 50 rds of WMR. Only after you have a .22, you should consider the mag.

I agree with pharaoh2, I've owned these fine pistols in both versions. Standard and target barrels. Quite frankly, accuracy was just as good witht the std. barrel. And was much lighter. I would get at least a 5 1/2" barrel though.

The above it true!!

BUT, those cheap 22 shells in my opinion should NOT be used on rabbits, squirells ect... Yes, they will work, but if everything isn't right, they just don't kill like a "Viper" or similar "more expensive" 22 shell.

On the other hand, the 22 Win. mag is so much more powerfull, that even the cheap stuff (is there any???) kills well!!

It's just one of my pet peeves, hunters will go out and buy the cheapest 22 ammo they can find, and then go hunting with it!

I'm also a southpaw and have the Mk II .22LR. It really likes the Wolf Target ammo. I'm shooting groups of 5 into a single ragged hole at 25 yards. The only complaint would be the stiff trigger.
